Mr. John R. Jones, a native of Jefferson, Ga., died Monday, May 27, 1996, in his home.
Mr. Jones, MMC, retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years, having served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, after which he received an Honorable Discharge.
He is survived by his wife, Martha L. Jones; a son, Pete Colello, and his wife, Marilyn, of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Robert Jones and Gerald Jones, both of Commerce, Ga.; and two sisters, Ila Barns of Commerce, Ga., and Katheline Barns of Slidell, La. Mr. Jones is also survived by two beloved grandchildren, Wendy Colello of Virginia Beach and Holly Prindle of Dells, Wisc.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held Thursday at noon in Rosewood Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Warren Wilson. Donations may be made to Sentara Hospice Care.
