Margaret Gatling Tyler, 74, of Route 2, died Saturday, June 1, 1996, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Tyler was born in Gates County. The daughter of the late Grafton G. and Mrs. Sallie Mary Langstun Gatling, she was a retired schoolteacher in the North Carolina public school system, having taught for 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Gatesville.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Lee Tyler Sr.; a daughter, Nancy Margaret Tyler Poston, and her husband, Michael H. Poston Sr., of Gates; a son, Harry Lee Tyler Jr. and his wife, Louann H. Tyler, of Elizabeth City; a sister, Nancy Gatling Beaman of Ahoskie; and three grandchildren, Michael H. Poston Jr., Nancy Michele Tyler Poston and Gattis Gatling Tyler.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Donald V. Brand and the Rev. Billy Presley. Burial will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, the Gates County Rescue Squad, or the Gates County Historical Society.
