Magadalene Sherrod Coffey, 52, formerly of Pinners Point Section, died May 20, 1996, in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mrs. Coffey, a native of Portsmouth, was a teacher at Leon High School, Tallahassee. She formerly taught at S.H. Clarke and I.C. Norcom High School. She was a former member of First Baptist Church Pinners Point.
Survivors include her husband, John Coffey of Tallahassee; a son, Tshombe Coffey of Portsmouth; her mother, Nannie Sherrod of Portsmouth; a sister, Ethel Mason of Portsmouth; two brothers, Eugene Sherrod and Jimmy Sherrod, both of Washington, D.C.; a nephew, Darryl Mason of Portsmouth; two nieces, Ursula Sherrod and Marissa Sherrod of Portsmouth; cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, the Rev. Eugene H. Sherrod Sr.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. William S. Hampton in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. The family will be at 940 and 934 Jefferson St., Portsmouth. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge.
