I recently attended a small conference to hear Sen. John Warner speak about the bill he co-sponsored, the U.S. Tourism Organization Act.
Warner's support of tourism may seem strong, but after review of his voting record, I am confused. Warner has constantly voted against protecting our most-beautiful public lands. How can he promote tourism if he refuses to protect our national parks and wilderness areas?
The economic benefits mentioned at the conference will never be felt without conservation of our national parks. Perhaps Warner will keep this in mind as more environmental bills pass through the Senate.
