Sadie Hendrick Bowers, 87, of West Colin Drive, died June 7, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Bowers, the widow of Russell C. Bowers, was a native of Richmond. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving family, including a daughter, Charleene ``Cookie'' Howell of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Lynn Edwards, Carter Howell and his wife, Rebecca, all of Portsmouth; a great-grandchild, Joshua Howell; two nieces, Gloria Shupe and her husband, John, of Richmond, Ann Finnell and her husband, Don, of Spotsylvania, Va.; and additional great-nieces and great-nephews of Richmond.
The body was shipped from Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, to Nelson Funeral Home, Richmond, for services and burial.
