Lester Earl Keech, 72, of the 2200 block of Carrsville Highway, died June 9, 1996, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Keech was a native of Beaufort, N.C., and was the son of the late William R. and Qulia Hunnings Keech. He was a lifelong Baptist, served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific during World War II, and was retired as a mechanic from the sawmill department of Union Camp after 24 years with the company. He loved family and fishing.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Angelena Glover Keech; three sons, Jerry D. Keech and his wife, Dot of Sedley, David G. Keech and Carl W. Keech and his wife, Lisa of Franklin. Mr. Keech was predeceased by a son, Ronald E. Keech. Other survivors include one brother, Lacy R. Keech of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Jerri K. Baugham, Travis P. Keech, Adam L. Keech, Jason L. Keech, Kelly M. Keech; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Earley, Brittany Baugham, Baylee Baugham and Colby Baugham; nieces and nephews; and three devoted sisters-in-law.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Wooden officiating. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, and suggest that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Mrs. June Duck, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
