Janie B. Bowers, 93, died Thursday, June 13, 1996, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Bowers was born in Bertie County, N.C., and was the widow of James E. Bowers. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a retired seamstress.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Barnes and son-in-law, Raymond, of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Pamela Anderson and her husband, Jim, of Stafford, Va.; two great-grandsons, James and Wayne Anderson; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaylen.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Services will be private.
