COMPUTER SCHOOL OPENS

A new computer training facility has opened in Newport News.

Computer Training & Education Inc. opened last month in the Oyster Point Park section.

The school serves average computer users.

``We want to reach the clientele who have spent two or three thousand dollars on a computer and can't utilize it. Most people know how to use 15 percent and we want to show them how to learn the other 85 percent,'' said James L. Williams, one of the owners.

``The majority of the computer schools are for networking, computer programming and there are like 10 to 12 people in class,'' he said.

The school offers instructional classes from Windows 95, WordPerfect to spreadsheets, database software and desktop publishing software.

Classes usually have up to five students. Lee Cogdill and Shirley O'Reilly are also owners.

AAA of Tidewater Virginia opened a branch office June 10 in Williamsburg.

The new building at 260 McLaws Circle in the Festival Marketplace will serve the Upper Peninsula, Surry County and the Gloucester-Mathews area. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Retired Navy Capt. A. James Booth, a former commanding officer of the Naval Weapons Station, will manage the Williamsburg branch. by CNB
