Mary Gladys Bryant, 85, of the 3600 block of Winchester Drive, died June 15, 1996, in a Portsmouth nursing home.
A native of Portsmouth, she retired as a buyer from Leggett's Department Store after 25 years. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Valerie Lynnette White and her former husband, Herbert L. Bryant.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Dale Fisher and Betty Bryant Dabney, both of Chesapeake, and Peggy Lynn White of Virginia Beach; a son, Richard Barrett Bryant of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Neal Sasser. The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
