Howard Marvin Beale Sr., 92, of South Street, died June 16, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Southampton County and lived in the Westhaven area of Portsmouth for 55 years. Mr. Beale, the widower of Ruby Lee Beale, retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired from Seaboard Railroad.
Survivors include two sons, Howard M. Beale Jr. of Suffolk, Jack M. Beale of Blueridge, Va.; a grandchild, Lisa Kathryn Beale of Asheville, N.C.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. W. Thomas Wood. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
