Elizabeth ``Betty'' Joyce Lister Gordon, 69, died June 13, 1996, in her home.
She was born in Brauford, Conn., Sept. 11, 1926, the daughter of James Arthur Lister and Mabel Andrews Marshall Lister. After the death of her mother, she moved to Norfolk and was lovingly raised by ``Aunt Gin,'' ``Poppy,'' ``B'' and ``Lu.'' She attended and graduated from St. Mary's Hall, N.J. Elizabeth graduated from Holton Arms in Washington, D.C.; she received her R.N. in New London, Conn., where she resided for several years prior to raising her family in Rhode Island. In 1975 she moved to Maine and was employed by the Elizabeth Levinson Center.
Survivors include seven children, Susan of Auburn, Maine; Nancy of Franklin, Maine, Kate of Cherryfield, Maine, Michael of Orrington, Jonathan of Middletown, R.I., Tara of Bangor, Maine, Mary of Brewer, Maine; five grandchildren, James, Erin, Sam, Ethan, Nathan; a very dear friend, Ellen. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer Philips Gordon; a brother, James Lister and a sister, Hazel Tracy.
Private services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Marston Cemetery, Orrington. As tributes to, and in memory of Elizabeth, please give out plenty of hugs. Brookings-Smith Funeral Home, Clark Piper Chapel, 55 S. Main St., Brewer, is handling arrangements.
