The North Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld guilty verdicts against three Norfolk men charged in a 1994 robbery-shooting at a Manteo mobile home.
Lenoris Gregory Fleming, 20, his 19-year-old brother, Ralph Lamont Fleming, and Norman Lee Robinson, 37, were convicted in January 1995 in the pre-dawn incident, which occurred on July 26, 1994, at a birthday party.
Dion Daniels of Manteo was wounded in the incident.
Greg Fleming received seven consecutive 20-year terms, while Ralph Fleming and Robinson received sentences totaling 77 years in jail.
In the 21-page opinion, the appeals panel rejected defense claims that the trio did not receive a fair trial.
Assistant District Attorney Robert Trivette praised the decision.
``These defendants burst into a home, shot one person, tied up others with duct tape, and committed a robbery. There were a lot of complex issues in this case, and the appeals court's opinion shows that the case was handled properly.'' by CNB
