Robert A. Ellis Jr., 61, died Tuesday, June 25, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mr. Ellis was born in Portsmouth and was a retired master gunnery sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a mechanic with General Foam Plastic Corp. He was a Baptist and a member of BOE Hunt Club.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet P. Ellis; a daughter, Debbie Kurtz of Chesapeake; three sons, Michael Ellis and Jimmy Ellis, both of Virginia Beach, and Danny Ellis of Louisiana; his mother, Erma Calvird of Portsmouth; a sister, Sandra Delauder of Portsmouth; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a stepdaughter, Sally Jackson of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Leonard Perry Jr. of Virginia Beach; and a half-sister, Linda Jo Norris of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. W. Hank Brooks in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
