David Raymond Burkett, 44, died of complications of AIDS on Sunday, June 23, 1996.
A resident of Norfolk from 1975 to 1980, he was an active member of Unitarian Universalist Gay Community Center and a proud participant of Norfolk's first large gay conference at Old Dominion.
He is survived by his beloved companion of 14 years, Thomas Gannon; parents, Nell and Raymond Burkett; a sister, Kathleen; brother, Charles; and many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the local Gay and Lesbian Task Force would be greatly appreciated.
