William McAlister Nunley, 85, of Martin Ave., died June 25, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
He was a native of Crawford, Texas, and was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church, Portsmouth and was a Toastmaster. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Ann Freas of Portsmouth; a son, J. William Nunley of Sheridan, Ore.; a brother; three grandchildren, Rick and Christa Freas and Danaea Jackman.
A funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Simonsdale Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Matt Matthews. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
