Norfolk Tides pitchers Mike Gardiner and Derek Wallace and first baseman Roberto Petagine have been named to the National League team for the Triple-A All-Star Game, to be played July 10 in Salt Lake City.
The game will be televised by ESPN2 beginning at 9:30 p.m. EDT.
The three Tides equals the franchise's record for participants. The Tides sent Chris Donnels, Jeff Gardner and Todd Hundley to the 1991 game.
Last season, the Tides were represented by pitcher Jason Isringhausen and first baseman Omar Garcia.
Gardiner (8-1, 1.48 ERA) was selected as one of two starting pitchers.
Wallace (4-1, 14 saves, 1.11 ERA) was selected as one of two relief pitchers.
Petagine (.337, 9 HR, 43 RBI) was added as a reserve for the NL club.
The starting lineups, released Thursday, were selected through balloting of team field managers, general managers and media ballots. An All-Star committee selected the reserves. by CNB
