The Better Business Bureau of Greater Hampton Roads is alerting consumers of a mailing from National Home Employment in Austin, Texas, offering a guide of companies that employ individuals to work in their homes. The bureau said it has received 386 inquiries on this firm form local consumers in the last 36 months.
According to the Austin BBB, complaints filed against this company allege dissatisfaction with materials received, non-receipt of ordered merchandise or difficulty in receiving refunds after returning the guide within the 30-day money-back guarantee period.
National Home Employment also does business under the names First Capital, First Capital Business Brokers, First Capital Publications, and Home Employment.
The BBB said it knew of no work-at-home offer which has resulted in real work for real pay.

Dorey Electric Co. in Norfolk received a $921,020 contract aircraft apron lighting improvements at Norfolk International Airport.
Shirley Construction Corp. in Portsmouth received a $9.5 million contract for a Courts complex in Suffolk.
