Mary Pittman Blount, 90, of the 1300 block of Roosevelt Blvd., died June 28, 1996, in Mary-view Hospital.
A native of Edge-combe County, N.C., she was the widow of John Jasper Blount Sr. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, the Missionary Society and Sunday School Class (NU)7.
Survivors include a daughter, Vivian B. Curry, and husband, Warren, of Portsmouth; a son, Eric L. Blount, and wife, Pamela, of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sarah Battle Pittman of Rocky Mount, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Celie Ann and Sherman Pittman Sr.; her son, John Jasper Blount Jr.; and brothers, the Rev. Sherman Pittman Jr. and Ernest L. Pittman Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday.
