Violet Eleanor Ball, of the 6200 block of Hampton Blvd., died July 2, 1996, at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Ball, a native of San Francisco, Calif., moved to Norfolk as a child with her family and resided here for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late George and Emma Habib, and the widow of Vincent P. Ball. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Habib.
Mrs. Ball and her family were the former owners and operators of the Seaboard Delicatessen in downtown Norfolk for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. Mrs. Ball was also a member of the Suburban Women's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne, and her husband John P. Phillips and a granddaughter, Abigail Eleanor Phillips all of Norfolk.
A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, 1996, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Tim Roberts. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 7409 Gleneagles Road in Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to Lou Gehrigs Association-A.L.S. 21021 Ventura Blvd. suite 321 Woodland Hills, Calif. 91364 or to First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.
