Johnny R. Hobbs Jr., 40, of the 2300 block of First Landing Lane, died July 4, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Hobbs had been employed by Copy Data Group for 14 years and was a sales manager. Born in Ahoskie, N.C., he was a member of Grace Bible Church. He was a former star athlete at Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, a 1977 graduate of Virginia Military Institute and a 4-year member of their football team. He was a member of Broad Bay Country Club. He was predeceased by his mother, Leonna C. Hobbs.
Survivors include his father, John R. Hobbs Sr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Brenda H. Woods of Virginia Beach; a brother, Jimmy Hobbs of Virginia Beach; two nieces; a nephew and his fiance, Joan Baliles of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Mike Hurt in Grace Bible Church on Shore Drive. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the residence following the service on Sunday.
