CITIZENS MAY HELP COME UP WITH BLUEPRINT [CHESAPEAKE} A PORTRAIT OF GROWTH THIS BEGINS AN OCCASIONAL SERIES THIS SUMMER FOCUSING ON GROWTH IN CHESAPEAKE, IDENTIFIED BY RESIDENTS AS THE CITY'S MOST PRESSING CONCERN.

Thursday, residents of Deep Creek and other southern and central Chesapeake areas will have an unusual opportunity to determine the future of their communities.

The Planning Department is sponsoring a citizens' workshop at 7 p.m. to get input into Chesapeake's next comprehensive plan, a blueprint for how the city will develop over the next two decades.

The comprehensive plan helps the city set priorities on everything from roads to the environment.

``It's a guideline for future decision-making by the Planning Commission and City Council for all decisions having to do with growth and development in the community,'' said Brent Nielson, Chesapeake's planning director.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Deep Creek Community Center, 2901 Margaret Booker Drive, near Deep Creek High School. Call the city Planning Department at 382-6176 for more information.
