RUTH C. IVEY

Ruth Canada Ivey, 72, of Farragut Street, died Saturday, July 13, 1996, in Virginia Beach.

A native of Norfolk, she was a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church and Portsmouth Women of the Moose Lodge (NU)898. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam F. Ivey Sr., and by her first husband, Jesse E. Canada Jr. She was retired from General Electric.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce C. Norris of Chesterfield, Va., and Charlene C. Allen of Virginia Beach; four sons, Jerry R. Canada of Portsmouth, James N. Canada of Virginia Beach, Jesse E. Canada III and David B. Canada, both of Suffolk; a stepson, Adam F. Ivey Jr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Betty Freeman of Norfolk and Joan Bowers of Roanoke; two brothers, Thomas Capps of Norfolk and Louis Capps of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Richard W. Lovingood. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
