Edythe Sayles Bernard, 90, of the 300 block of Jonathan Court, died July 16, 1996, in a Newport News hospital.
Mrs. Bernard, the widow of William Howard ``Happy'' Bernard, was retired from Civil Service. She was a native of Norfolk and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn S. Vassos of Newport News; a sister, Christine Liverman of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Jonathan Howard Vassos and family of Newport News, and Susan Alisa Vassos of Greensboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Jerry Helms in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge.
