Charles E. ``Bill'' O'Shields Sr., 78, of Afton Parkway, died Saturday, July 27, 1996, in Portsmouth.
Mr. O'Shields, a native of Suffolk, was a retired salesman from Sears & Roebuck. He was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church, 42nd Rainbow Division Veteran Assoc., V.F.W. Cradock Post, and the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice P. O'Shields; a daughter, Vivian Bizzell and husband, James, of Chesapeake; two sons, Charles E. O'Shields Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Manassas, Va., David O'Shields and wife, Nancy Holsinger, of Chesapeake; a sister, Ruth Cotton of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Sean O'Shields, Kristin O'Shields and Kevin Powell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Parkview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Daniel G. Spaugh. Burial with military honors in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Foster Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Parkview United Methodist Church, 1131 Crawford Pkwy., Portsmouth, Va. 23704.
