Robert O. Barbee Sr., 82, died July 27, 1996, in a local hospital.
A native of Durham, N.C., Mr. Barbee retired from Ames and Webb Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Barbee; a son, Robert O. Barbee Jr. of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Linda Thompson of Melbourne, Fla., Gail Barrett of Hickory, N.C., Nora Sawyer of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Ruth Barbee, Margaret Merritt, Edna Atkins, and Clara Rigsbee, and a brother, Herbert Barbee, all of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 1996, by the Rev. John D. Sykes Sr. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
