MARVIN L. THOMPSON

Marvin L. ``Jarhead'' Thompson, 62, of the 600 block of Ferry Road, died Aug. 1, 1996, in Chesapeake.

He was employed with Russell's Heating and Air Conditioning in Chesapeake. Mr. Thompson had retired with 20 years of service as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after working more than 20 years. He was a native of Portsmouth and was the son of the late Charles R. and Agnes Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lindauer ``Bobbie'' Thompson; a daughter, April M. Thompson of Carrollton, Va.; a son, Charles L. Thompson and his wife, Donna A., of Kingsland, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Griffin of Portsmouth, and Agnes Kurson of Maple Shade, N.J.; a brother, Charles A. Thompson of Smithfield, Va.; three granddaughters, Amber M., Brandi L. and Megan L. Thompson.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Keith Lewis in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland.
