Elisabeth Benschop-v. Bochove

VIRGINIA BEACH - Elisabeth Christine Benschop-v. Bochove, of Westminster-Canterbury HCC, died Aug. 1, 1996, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Benschop was a native of the Netherlands, and received her education there. After a career in banking, she followed her husband to the West Indies and later East Indies, where he was employed by Shell Oil. They traveled extensively, and eventually came to this country and became American citizens in 1967.

Before retirement, Mrs. Benschop was very active as a hostess in social life, in charities, and also as a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. Since 1964, she was an active member of Bayside Presbyterian Church.

Elisabeth Benschop is survived by her husband of 58 years, Meijert Benschop and their children; a daughter, Elisabeth J. Maxwell-Benschop and her husband, Richard D. Maxwell and three grandchildren of Stamford, Conn.; two sons, Hugo J. Benschop and his wife, Lucy Benschop-Devita of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Jan Ph. Benschop and his wife, Christian Benschop-Beeker and three grandchildren of Garner, N.C.; as well as a host of friends here and in other parts of the world.

Arrangements are being made by Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 24, 1996, in Bayside Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach. The service will be conducted by Dr. Richard Keever. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayside Presbyterian Church or Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund.
