Lucille G. Herbert, 82, died Aug. 2, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
A native of Waynesboro, she was the widow of William M. Herbert Sr. She was a teacher with the Norfolk Public School System. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary H. Childress and her husband, Robert E. Childress, of Virginia Beach; a son, William M. Herbert Jr. and his wife, Joy A. Herbert, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four granddaughters, Celeste H. Anvil, Yvette H. Cahill, Tawnya L. Childress, Amy D. Childress; and many loving friends and neighbors.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in First Lutheran Church of Norfolk by the Rev. Dr. James G. Cobb. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the daughter's residence, 159 Huntington Drive, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society of the First Lutheran Church of Norfolk. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling arrangements.
