CRIME LINE

Police are seeking public assistance with these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

More than $600,000 in jewelry and guns have been stolen from homes in the north end of the city.

Homes have been robbed in the 800 block of Greentree Arch, the 700 block of Crystal Lane and the 4800 block of Oceanfront Avenue. The break-ins occurred between July 25 and July 28.

The robbers entered the homes by breaking glass to unlock doors and windows.

Expensive necklaces, rings, watches, and other jewelry was taken, while costume jewelry was left behind. Also, four handguns were taken.

PORTSMOUTH

A family in the 3700 block of Greenwood drive was awakened by gunshots and breaking glass around 1 a.m. July 9.

Two homemade fire bombs were found, but neither was ignited.

A family in the 800 block of Bold St. was awakened about 4:30 a.m. on July 18 by several gunshots, the smell of smoke and fire in the rear of their home.

CHESAPEAKE

Dalton McBynum, 35, is wanted on charges of petty larceny and possession of marijuana. He is black, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

He is reported to frequent the Holly Cove, Ahoy Acres and Broadlawn areas of Chesapeake.

William ``Billy'' Harrell, 38, is wanted on charges of robbing a Subway restaurant.

Harrell is white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes. He is reported to frequent the Northampton Boulevard and Baker Road areas of Virginia Beach.

He may be with a 45-year-old white male who is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds, with a dark complexion and dark hair and mustache.

This man may live in the area Harrell frequents, and he is also wanted in connection with robberies in the Greenbrier area.

HAMPTON

A clerk at the Uni-Mart in the 1300 block of North King St. was accosted around 2:41 a.m. on July 29 while sweeping the parking lot. She was able to break free from her assailant, who was armed with a knife, and ran back into the store.

She was able to give police a composite description of the attacker. The suspect is described as black, in his early 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a light mustache and goatee. He was wearing a red button-down shirt and blue jeans. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
