THELMA V. ELLIOTT

Thelma ``Nana'' V. Elliott, 83, of the 2100 block of Lincoln St., died Aug. 1, 1996, at home.

A native and lifelong resident of Portsmouth, she was the widow of Robert T. Elliott Sr. She was a deaconess of New St. Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, as well as a member of the senior choir, Missionaries, and Maids and Matrons Club. Mrs. Elliott also was a member of Mary Athelina Tent (NU)44. She was the daughter of the late Emmaline Knight Scott and the late Samuel Knight.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Gladys Turner, Ms. Thelma L. Elliott, both of Portsmouth, Mrs. Joyce Hathaway of Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. Marion Hathaway of Palermo, N.Y., Mrs. Margaret Ransom of Petersburg, Va., Mrs. Emma Price of Silver Spring, Md., Mrs. Rosa Lee Warren of Boykins, Va., two sons, Robert T. Elliott Jr. of Hampton, Samuel V. Elliott of King George, Va.; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; many relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by a son, James M. Elliott; a daughter, Josephine B. Hill; and two grandchildren, Troy D. Price and James M. Hathaway.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in New St. Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Johnnie Drake. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be at Rogers Funeral Home today from noon to 8 p.m. The remains will be placed in the church at noon Tuesday. Donations may be made (in memory of Mrs. Thelma V.
