HEATHER L. THORNTON

Heather Leigh Thornton, 19, of the 8700 block of Adams Drive, died Aug. 3, 1996, in Suffolk.

A native of Newport News, she was a member of the Nansemond River Baptist Church and a former member of the French Broad Baptist Church, Hendersonville, N.C. She was a 1995 graduate of West Henderson High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended East Carolina University and was currently enrolled as a sophomore at Christopher Newport University.

Survivors include her parents, Janet and Bill Thornton; two brothers, Daniel and Aaron, all of Suffolk and formerly of Hendersonville; her paternal grandfather, Archie Thornton of Daleville, Va. Heather was also the granddaughter of the late Delmar and Margie Lawson and Virginia Thornton. She was the beloved niece and cousin of many family members.

The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel. The Rev. Lee Hess and the Rev. Timothy Piland will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
