MILTON DONN

Milton Donn, 87, of the 1300 block of W. Princess Anne Road, died Aug. 4, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Donn was the retired president of the Allan Furniture Company in Portsmouth after almost 60 years' employment and was a leader in the Downtown Merchants Association of Portsmouth. Mr. Donn was a native of Hartford, Conn. He moved to Hollywood when he was 20 years old. For three years, he was an aspiring singer and actor and appeared in a movie with Dick Powell. Family obligations required his return to Hartford, but his love of entertaining continued for the rest of his life. He was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Fleder Donn; two daughters, Beth Mancoll of Virginia Beach, Cynthia Tessler and her husband, Jacob, of Norfolk; two sons, Allan Donn and his wife, Susan, and Ronald Donn and his wife, Natalie, all of Norfolk; nine grandchildren, Deborah Casey and her husband, Martin, John Mancoll and his wife, JoAnna, Susan Albert and her husband, Bret, Matthew Mancoll, Jessica , Courtney, and Adam Donn and Aaron and David Tessler; and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Casey.

A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at 542 Mowbray Arch in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
