JAMES T. SMITH

James T. Smith, of the 900 block of Wolcott Ave., died Aug. 2, 1996, in a local hospital.

Mr. Smith, a retired driver, worked for AVEC Electronics. He was a native of Scotland Neck, N.C., and a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Smith; five daughters, Rosa S. Lindsey of Cleveland, Ohio, Carolyn A. Parks, Geraldine M. Pollard and Janice D. Thomas of Norfolk, and Debra D. Simpkins of Newport News; a son, Michael L. Smith of Norfolk; three sisters, Roseanna Davis and Mary Higgs, both of Newark, N.J., and Rosela Ellerbe of Colonial, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Peter Wherry in Queen Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
