A man's body was found early Monday evening inside an overturned kayak floating in the Atlantic Ocean off Sandbridge. The man had been shot in the head.
Police identified the man as James E. Segal, 38, of the 2100 block of Woodlawn Ave. in Virginia Beach.
Police spokesman Don Rimer said the kayak was spotted about 6 p.m. The U.S. Coast Guard responded and recovered the kayak and the body about 50 minutes later.
The body was taken to the Norfolk Crime Lab.
The case is being investigated by the Police Department's homicide unit. by CNB
