MARNIE KLAR MISS PORTSMOUTH SEAWALL AND MUSICAL THEATER MAJOR.

You might not want to sit next to Marnie Klar at a musical.

She sings along. Softly, but sometimes loud enough to get funny looks from other audience members.

Singing is something Klar does a lot. Acting, too. The Cox High School graduate and University of Miami musical theater major has been interested in the stage all her life.

Her goal is to become a successful actress on Broadway. ``I might have to make it on television,'' she said, ``but if I have my choice, I'll do it live.''

Named this year's Miss Portsmouth Seawall, Klar gave local audiences and those in the Miss Virginia Pageant in Roanoke (where she placed fourth runner-up) a sample of her talent last month when she crooned a show tune - loud enough for everyone to hear.
