CLAUDE T. FEREBEE

Dr. Claude Thurston Ferebee Sr., formerly of Norfolk, passed away July 23, 1996, at his home.

He was the son of the late Charles S. and Nannie J. Ferebee. Dr. Ferebee was a graduate of Wilberforce University and the Columbia University School of Dentistry.

He taught at the Howard University School of Dentistry and at the same time was engaged in private practice in Washington, D.C.

In World War II, he served as major in the Army Dental Corps. During his tour of duty, he received the Bronze Star Medal and other citations for excellence in service to his country. Following his tour of duty, he practiced dentistry in New York City for 40 years. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, the Columbia University Alumni Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Hazel J. Ferebee; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine F. Burrell of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Constance F. Jones of Norfolk; three grandsons, Claude Thurston Ferebee III, Carl Ferebee, both of Silver Spring, Md., Todd Ferebee of Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Dorothy Ferebee of Washington, D.C.; four great-grandsons; two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his son and daughter.

On July 24, 1996, he was laid to rest in the Pine View Veterans' Cemetery located in Selma. Information furnished by Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk.
