Betty Ridgwell Wahab, 78, beloved wife for 56 years of Judge Robert Stanley Wahab Jr., died peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 7, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
A native of Norfolk but a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Alex Cameron Ridgwell. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Sue Christian Ridgwell.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Stanley Wahab III and William Ridgwell Wahab, and her brother, Col. Robert L. Christian U.S. Marine Corps, (ret.), all of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Linda Tuck Wahab; a sister-in-law, Sarah Day Christian; three grandchildren, John Robert Wahab, Rebecca Lea Tallman, and Barbara Elizabeth Wahab; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Jon Tallman.
Mrs. Wahab was a founder, past president, and member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Beach Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was a two-time cancer survivor and an organizer of the Cancer Society's Discovery Shop.
The family will receive friends at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, 36th Street and Pacific Avenue. Interment will be at the Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Virginia Beach Unit of the American Cancer Society.
