Mamie S. Vick
PORTSMOUTH - Mamie S. Vick, 82, of the 1500 block of Mount Vernon Ave., died Aug. 6, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
She retired as a teacher and guidance counselor for the Portsmouth Public School System at I.C. Norcom and Churchland High Schools after 40 years of service. She was a charter member of Gamma Delta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Portsmouth Chapter of Links Inc. She was a member of the national, state and local education associations.
She is survived by her husband, Dorsey J. Vick; a daughter, Verona Vick Murrell of Peachtree City, Ga.; a sister, Leona S. Robinson of Virginia Beach; a brother, Joseph Smith of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Marlon D. Murrell and Mathias D. Murrell of Peachtree City; son-in-law, Melvin D. Murrell of Peachtree City, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. A viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 2 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the funeral home at 6 p.m. for memorial services.
