CHESAPEAKE - Allen Rex Upchurch, 72, died Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Upchurch was born in Wake County, N.C. and was the son of the late Rex Edgar and Ruth Simpkins Upchurch. He was the widower of Shirley Simonin Upchurch. He was a member of Inwood Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C. He was a retired elevator constructor with Dover Elevator Company. He was a member of Local (NU)52 International Union of Elevator Constructors, Corinthian Masonic Lodge 22, Norfolk, Scottish Rite Bodies; Khedive Shrine Temple and the Chesapeake Shrine Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Ruth Grayson of Oswego, Ill. and a sister, Doris Holk of Denver, Colo.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Inwood Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
