WORK DONE ON PUMP STATION: Water pressure may have dropped slightly Wednesday night in the Indian River and South Norfolk sections of town while city utility crews worked on pipes.

To do the work, officials had to shut down the Violet Street water pump station, which supplies about 30,000 of the city's 145,000 water customers.

``It's just a routine thing,'' said Amar Dwarkanath, director of the city's Public Utilities Department.

The pump station was due to be reopened at 5 a.m. this morning. Residents also may have noticed discolored water after the station went back into operation. by CNB
