Demolition continues in Norfolk to make way for the MacArthur Center

mall, as the parking garage at Monticello Avenue and Freemason

Street is destroyed. Old Dominion Demolition Corp., which has been

working in the area for five weeks, looks to have the remaining

structures down and debris cleared soon.

COMING SATURDAY:

Local architects and others have complained that Norfolk's plan for

the mall would damage the cityscape. In the Daily Break, we compare

the critics' counter-proposal with the official plan.
