Robert A. Martens
VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert A. Martens, 82, of the 4000 block of Jeanne St., died Aug. 8, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Martens, a native of Charleston, S.C., retired from the Transportation Department of Oceana. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal, Virginia Beach, and the Norfolk Senior Center. Mr. Martens was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph G. and Julia I. Martens, of Charleston, S.C.
Survivors include his wife, Maye E. Martens; four daughters, Kerry M. Bradshaw of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Cecelia M. Young of Atlantic Beach, N.C., Lynette M. Godwin of Kitty Hawk, Cynthia M. Baker of Pasadena, Md.; a son, Anton C. Martens of Smithfield; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by Chaplain Ken Veazey in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
