GRACIE M. FRANKLIN

Gracie Mae Franklin, 71, of the 6000 block of Campbell St., departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996, at her home.

She was a native of Fayetteville, N.C., the daughter of the late Wren and Gertie McCoy.

Leaving to cherish the beautiful memories of Gracie Mae are her husband, Horace E. Franklin; six daughters, Rebecca Ward of Richmond, Juanita Ebron, Yvonne Iwejor, Alberta Fennell and Toni Dixon of Portsmouth and Geraldine Sawyer of Franklin; three sons, Marshall Franklin and Daniel Franklin of Portsmouth and Benjamin Franklin of Hampton; a sister, Christine Eggleston; and three brothers, Harvey McCoy and Henry McCoy of Portsmouth, and Herbert McCoy of Suffolk; two daughters-in-law; four sons-in-law; two aunts, Leola Morrison of Portsmouth and Annie Mae Harrington of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Wayne Franklin of Washington, D.C.

For 28 years she was an active member of the Miriam Chapter (NU)107 Order of the Eastern Star P.H.A. and a deaconess of Grove Baptist Church, West Norfolk Road.

The family will receive friends at 5932 Hampshire Green in Churchland, Bishop Green Section. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Melvin O. Marriner Monday at 1 p.m. in Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
