JOSEPH K. OAKLEY

Joseph Kendall Oakley, 82, of the 1000 block of Charlney Ave., died Aug. 9, 1996.

Mr. Oakley, a native of Caswell County, N.C., retired from Trailways Bus Company as a bus driver after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Norfolk; Charles M. Setzr Masonic Lodge (NU)693, Charlotte, N.C.; Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies; and Khedive Temple of the Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois Clay Oakley; two sons, J.K. Oakley Jr. of Norfolk, John W. Oakley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Vera Robertson of Las Vegas, , Ruth Trueblood of Knoxville, Tenn., Audrey Hammond of Burlington, N.C.; two brothers, Roy Oakley of Hampton and Robert Oakley of Durham, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Sidney K. Nelson in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1051 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, 23502, or to the Shriner's Crippled Childrens Hospital, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, 23320.
