``If the latest fad is being nice, then Dole is out'' (MetroNews, July 21) by staff writer Elizabeth Simpson is a feeble, liberal attempt to make Bob Dole look bad.
For the record, let's make a comparison: Bob Dole served in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II and sacrificed an arm for his country.
Bill Clinton not only dodged the draft but also undermined the poor soldiers who were dying in Vietnam. If the Democrats have Butt Man to follow Dole around and harass him, then maybe 10,000 angry Vietnam vets should follow Clinton around and harass him.
Bill Clinton had the audacity to insult the intelligence of the American people by saying that he didn't inhale. It's amazing to me that you people are so quick to hop in bed with a man who is a confessed and proven draft dodger, philanderer and leader of an administration which never ceases to amaze me with abuses of power.
It's a shame that an honest, hard-working, likable man like Bob Dole, a man who deserves respect, should have to be compared to the likes of Bill Clinton.
It is also a shame that a person like Bob Dole, who can run for president and win on his own merits, should be falsely undermined, and falsely reported on by the likes of Elizabeth Simpson, who reports that Clinton is ``double digits'' ahead of Dole but does not say which poll she used as a source.
Bill Clinton got elected because of the media, and remember: He did not win by popular vote.
To you liberals at The Virginian-Pilot: Stop lying to the people. Tell the truth, and remember this; we don't care about your opinions. We want the facts, not opinionated garbage. This is the U.S.A., not Nazi German, and the people will not tolerate being lied to.
