Lt. Cmdr. Rosemary F. Munsey, U.S. Navy retired, 47, a resident of Chesopeian Colony, departed this life Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996, after a long-term illness at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William Friedrich and Margaret Hellwig Friedrich of Westminster Canterbury, Virginia Beach, who survives. Rosemary was the loving wife for 20 years of Charles Robert Munsey Jr., who also survives. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tony, and her sister, Irma.
Lt. Cmdr. Munsey was retired from the Navy after 20 years of faithful service to her country. Her assignments included Attack Squadron 174, Aircraft Maintenance Departments at NAS Jacksonville, NAS Norfolk and NAF Diego Garcia, The Naval Safety Center, NAVMASS O, OPNAV, NAVAIR and Comnavairlant. She was a graduate of the University of Miami. Rosemary was active with the Girl Scouts and an avid youth soccer fan. She was a member of Foundry United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband and mother, Rosemary is survived by a son, Billy; a daughter, Kellye; a sister, Marge Brower and her husband, Vern Brower, of West Olive, Mich.; nieces, Lt. Linda Shinn and her husband, Harry Shinn, and their two sons, Cherie Clark and her husband, Tony Clark; nephews, Paul Brower and Michael Melkonian; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Maxine Munsey of Titusville, Fla.
Rosemary will be dearly missed by those who had the opportunity to experience her wonderful love of life, positive attitude, fighting spirit and strong support as a wife, friend and shipmate. Fair winds and following seas our dear one.
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Foundry United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach. A funeral will be held following the visitation at the church at noon with the Rev. James Mahaffey officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park for family members only.
