Salutes, smiles for new commander
A normally all-business hangar witnessed the glitter of gold braid
and the pomp of ceremony last week, when Capt. Ronald E. Keys
relieved Capt. Daniel J. Franken as the Norfolk Naval Air Station's
commander. Above, Keys' mother, Mary Tilghman of Virginia Beach,
stands beside her son as he receives congratulations from friends
and fellow officers. Below, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Eddie Franklin,
saluting second from left, joins other sailors in honoring the new
skipper. Keys comes to his new job overseeing the busy air base from
the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Franken will report to
the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., as a Chief of Naval
Operations Fellow. by CNB
