GROUP MEMBERS CATCH UP AT NAACP PICNIC GOOD TIMES, GOOD FOOD AND GOOD FRIENDS

IT WAS A TIME for catching up on old times when friends got together for the annual NAACP picnic Monday.

The rain didn't deter about 40 members who came out and enjoyed grilled hamburgers, fried fish and hot dogs.

The organization also started plans for the annual L.D. Britt Scholarship Dinner, to be held at Scott Dozier Hall at Norfolk State University, on Sept. 27.

Britt is a local physician and civic leader.

Tickets for that event will be $30. ILLUSTRATION: Staff photos by MICHAEL KESTNER

NAACP members gathered under a shelter Monday afternoon at Colbourn

Park for the organization's annual picnic.
