Josephine Curles McDonald, 71, of 1502 Pot O Gold Trail, died Saturday Aug. 17, 1996, at her residence.
She was a native of Duck, N.C. and a member of the Duck United Methodist Church. She was a member and past president of the William Clarence Jackson V.F.W. Post 6060 Auxiliary and past president of the First District of North Carolina. Mrs. McDonald was a former employee of the Avalon Hosiery Mill and Pritchard's Florist, owner and operator of McDonald's Grocery and had retired from the dietary department of the Albemarle Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Jackson Lewis and Mrs. Fannie Rogers Curles and the wife of Glenn A. McDonald Sr. for more than 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda M. Turner of Chesapeake, Connie M. Lunsford of Elizabeth City; two sons, Samuel J. McDonald of Greenville, N.C., Glenn A. ``Jay'' McDonald Jr. of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Dora C. Hines of Plant City, Fla., Gladys C. White of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Jack Curles, G.C. Curles and Major Curles, all of Wanchese, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Westlawn Cemetery by the Rev. A. G. Parker, chaplain for the V.F.W. for the state of North Carolina. The family will receive friends at the residence. Twiford's Memorial Chapel Church St. has charge of arrangements.
