Waymond Green, 76, while at home in the 2300 block of Elliott Ave., departed this life for the next during the night of Aug. 16, 1996.
Mr. Green was born in Wheelwright, Ky., and was the son of the former Mattie Martin and George Howard Sr. He had retired from the United States Navy after 23 years of service and also from Federal Civil Service after a second career spanning 20 years.
Survivors in the Tidewater area include his wife, Edythe; daughter, Denise Britt, and her husband, William; son, Roy Green, and his wife, Synthia; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at Rogers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Curtiss Edmonds. Internment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Rogers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family at 2345 Elliott Ave.
